The news had been very distressing and it seemed that violence was everywhere in the world. I also happened to see a footage of news where US soldiers were breaking down the incredibly beautiful carved wooden doors of a palace. I thought it so sad that, besides the human suffering that war brings on, it also brings the desctruction of art and culture. This is why I wanted a strong contrast between the beauty of the underlying fabric piece and the torn wire in which a bloody rag is caught.

Les nouvelles avaient été très inquiètantes et il semblait que la violence était partout dans le monde. J'avais aussi vu par hasard un clip d'information sur lequel des soldats américans cassaient les portent en bois sculpté incroyablement belles d'un palais. Cela m'a marquée de voir comme il est triste que, en plus des souffrances humaines, la guerre amène la destruction de l'art et de la culture. C'est pourquoi j'ai voulu créé un fort constraste entre l'oeuvre en tissu qui est dessous et le grillage déchiré dans lequel est accroché un lambeau sanglant.
