| Cotton, silk organza, hand-dyed thread, black quilting thread, beads, text transfer, dowels wrapped with thread. This dimensional piece is the result of my thoughts about communication and actually a fairly pessimistic vision of the world. The text I chose was from Colette's book "Claudine à l'école". To represent the imperfection of communication, I used symbols such as words missing from the text on the right and falling off at the bottom, words in Morse code (with beads) on the strings linking the panels. These strings are the only visible link between the two pieces. I made a booklet with Colette's text and a record of my thought process to go with the piece. |
