"Family entanglements"

Hand-dyed velvet and threads, beads, foil, wool roving.

I wanted to represent what "family" is for me: something wonderful, rich and precious, which at the same time can be overwhelming and slightly smothering. While I was working on the piece, I wrote all the words that came to my mind about family, the good, and the bad, and I printed them on a piece of fabric, which I pleated and which is visible between the 3-d elements.
